Area League of Women Voters in Kane County were awarded a grant from the national League of Women Voters Education Fund supporting their work to make local government more transparent. Geneva/St. Charles, Batavia and Elgin Area leagues participated in the five-month project.
Of the 850 state and local leagues nationwide, the leagues in Kane County were among 12 chosen nationally, and the only group in Illinois.
The league's work in the area of government openness and accountability has long been hailed by others as vital to strengthening citizen understanding and involvement with government.
